(A.S.L.) American Sign Language 101

This introductory course is designed for students with no previous knowledge
of American Sign Language (ASL) with basic communicative competencies.
Students learn to handle basic everyday communication: exchanging
information, identifying others and giving simple directions. Topics focus
on personal information and the immediate environment. Grammar is introduced
in context with an emphasis on developing question and answer skills.
Cultural notes and videotapes provide information on Deaf Culture and the
Deaf Community.

Introduction to Italian Culture and Language

“Ciao tutti.” This conversational Italian course is intended to teach basic
Italian to those who are interested in traveling to Italy or who wish to
gain a basic knowledge of the language. Participants will learn basic words,
phrases, sentences and idioms. By the end of the course, participants will
be able to engage in basic conversation, will know the various regions
within Italy and have a better understanding of Italian food and culture.

French Class
With Elizabeth Harriman Tues. Oct. 5 8 Sessions

Fee: $95.00 + $12.35 HST
This beginner level course provides students with the basics of the French
language. We will cover vocabulary and grammar, and put them to use in
conversation as well as correspondence. No textbook is required. All
handouts will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring a French/English
dictionary. This course is 8 two-hour sessions. Bring a friend so you can
practice together away from class! A bientôt!
